What is it?
Reflectionism is both a philosophy of life as well as art. Both are based on the reflection theory that says that whatever energy you put out is what the universe reflects back. In other words what you think is what you get. Each human being mirrors the universe and the universe mirrors them in a unique way.
What does it mean to be a reflectionist artist?
Reflectionist artists are aware of and observe how the reflection theory affects the world in which they live. They are aware of the energy they emanate and how it is reflected back by the world around them. They actively engage in the moment, or series of moments, observe how the experience makes them feel and then express or record it in art. Just as the impressionists strived to capture the envelope of light and record how they saw it, the reflectionists now strive to record the entire envelope of life and how they experience it. Whether in painting, sculpture, music, dance…whatever form of artistic expression, reflectionist art is the observation and recording of the artists’ life experience and how the universe reflects that…moment by moment…expression by expression.
